1940-1949

  • Martha Jean Baker Anderson’42; Sept. 24, 2022, in Wayne, Pa. She was predeceased by her husband, Rex H. Anderson’41, and is survived by one son.
  • Jean Cooley Gilmore’42, active volunteer and community member; Jan. 31, 2023, in Phoenix, Ariz. She was predeceased by her first husband, Timothy M. Corcoran’42, and second husband, Robert Gilmore. Survivors include her son, Timothy M. Corcoran’66, and two daughters.
  • Mary Collingbourne Morton’43, involved community volunteer; April 24, 2023, in Venice, Fla. She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas R. Morton’41, and is survived by two daughters and two sons.
  • Richard “Dick” E. Burow’47, World War II veteran, former president of Kroehler Corp., former Beloit College alumni trustee, recipient of Beloit College Distinguished Service Citation in 1972; Dec. 21, 2022, in St. George, Utah. He was predeceased by his son, Scott Burow, and is survived by his wife, Chris Burow, one son, and two daughters, including Lynn Burow Malinowski’72.

  • Mary Gerlach Crusius’50, retired special education aide; Oct.13, 2022, in Saint Louis, Mo. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Crusius, and sister-in-law Mary Ann Gerlach’52. Survivors include two daughters and two sons.
  • Jeanette Vetter Fanta’50, former physics and chemistry teacher; Jan. 26, 2022, in Barrington, Ill. She was predeceased by her husband, Milton Fanta, and is survived by two sons and three daughters.
  • Dr. Joseph R. Ganshert’50, U.S. Air Force veteran, retired dentist; Nov. 18, 2022, in Monroe, Wis. He was predeceased by his wife, Louise Ganshert, one son and one daughter. Survivors include four sons and five daughters.
  • Romayne J. Little’50, World War II veteran; March 2, 2023, in Rockford, Ill. He is survived by his wife, Marlene Little, and numerous family members.
  • Muriel Schueppert Te Selle’50, community volunteer: Jan.14, 2022, in Sheboygan, Wis. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Te Selle’52, and is survived by one daughter and two sons.
  • Patricia Mohr Zerneke’50; Oct. 1, 2022, in Lynchburg, Va. She was predeceased by her husband, Kolden Zerneke’50, and is survived by two daughters.
  • Arthur Ahlgrim’51, former owner of Ahlgrim Funeral Home, active community member; Jan. 6, 2022, in Grand Rapids, Mich. He was predeceased by his wife, Arlene Ahlgrim, and is survived by one daughter and two sons.
  • John C. Compere’51, World War II veteran, former owner of Compere Fabrics; March 25, 2023, in Auburn, Ind. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean Compere, and brother, Edward L. Compere’50. Survivors include one daughter and two sons.
  • Charles G. Davis’51, U.S. Army veteran, retired business manager; June 26, 2021, in Batavia, Ill. He was predeceased by his wife, Fern Thiede Davis’51, and is survived by one son and two daughters.
  • Jerry A. Donley’51, retired attorney, inductee of the Beloit College Athletics Hall of Honor; Feb. 9, 2023, in Colorado Springs. He was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy Mayhew Donley’52, and brother, Richard O. Donley’50. Survivors include his wife, Christel Donley, and three sons.
  • Ruth Below Trask’51, May 22, 2022, in Golden Colo. She was predeceased by her husband, Douglass A. Trask’50, and is survived by four children.
  • Jean McKay Bethke’52; July 24, 2022, in Champaign, Ill. She was predeceased by her husband, Phillip Bethke, and is survived by three daughters and four sons.
  • Robert L. Hess’52, U.S. Army veteran, retired home remodeler; Jan. 31, 2023, in Beloit, Wis. He is survived by numerous family members.
  • Carol Christensen Lobdell’52, retired teacher, active community member; May 9, 2023, in Fontana, Wis. She was predeceased by her husband, Jess W. Lobdell’52. Survivors include her son, David Lobdell’84, four daughters, including Beth Lobdell Reeves’82, Ann Lobdell Isham’85, and Sarah Lobdell’94, and grandson, Tyler Isham’11.
  • Dorothea Rosanes Rahn’52, retired educator, founding board member of Timber Lake Playhouse; April 19, 2023, in St. Charles, Ill. She was predeceased by her husband, Max Rahn, and is survived by one daughter and two sons.
  • Junie L. Sinson’52, U.S. Army veteran, former attorney, active volunteer; March 16, 2023, in Elmhurst, Ill. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Olson Sinson’53, and three sons.
  • Joan Plecity Hazlett’53; March 26, 2023, in Naples Fla. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard J. Hazlett’52, and is survived by one son and two daughters.
  • Ralph E. Hersey’53, retired manager with General Electric; July 29, 2021, in Ormond Beach, Fla. He was predeceased by his father, Ralph E. Hersey (1918), and is survived by his wife, Nancy Hersey, one daughter, and two sons.
  • M. Jerome “Jerry” Houghton’53, U.S. Navy veteran, retired insurance broker, avid traveler; Jan. 30, 2023, in Anna-Jonesboro, Ill. He was predeceased by his wife, Betsy Houghton, and is survived by two sons, two stepdaughters, and special friend, Trudy Kleckner.
  • Tom H. Tucker’53, retired minister, community volunteer; Aug. 19, 2022, in Arlington, Texas. He was predeceased by his wife, Janice Tucker, sister, Caryl Tucker Threinen’56, and brother-in-law, David T. Threinen’56. Survivors include one son and two daughters.
  • Sharon McDonna Drives’57, retired interior designer; March 26, 2023, in Circle Pines, Minn. She was predeceased by her husband, John Drives, and son, Peter. Survivors include two daughters, including Patricia Drives’83.
  • Charles H. Nygard’57, retired professor and research statistician; Dec. 19, 2022, in Rexford, N.Y. He is survived by two sons.
  • George Q. Brown’58, U.S. Army veteran, retired chemical salesman; Feb. 25, 2023, in Galesburg, Ill. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carol Brown.
  • Robert A. Stevenson’58, U.S. Army veteran, retired finance and tax executive; Feb. 17, 2023, in Lebanon, Pa. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Kenneth J. Dupee (1929), and mother-in-law, Jean Vickers Dupee (1930). Survivors include his wife, Virginia Dupee Stevenson’59, two daughters, two sons, and niece, Susan Briles Schmidt’78.
  • Sarah Spangler Gottermeyer’59, retired library aide; March 12, 2023, in La Grange, Ill. She was predeceased by her husband, John Gottermeyer, one daughter, and one son.
  • Margery Evanson Smith’59, retired math and computer programming teacher, avid traveler; March 6, 2023, in Rockford, Ill. She is survived by her husband, Doug Smith, and his family.

  • Howard I. Bown’60, U.S. Air Force veteran, retired teacher; Jan. 6, 2023, in Beloit, Wis. He is survived by numerous family members.
  • Heidi Keye Biederman’62, retired educator, former school board member; April 20, 2023, in Wheaton, Ill. She was predeceased by her father, Vernon E. Keye’32, mother, Grace Denney Keye’32, grandfather, Robert S. Denney (1907), and grandmother, Rhoda Wheeler Dreyer (1905). Survivors include her former husband, William Biederman’61, and two sons.
  • William J. Munro’62, retired investment bond salesman; Feb. 12, 2023, in Northbrook, Ill. He was predeceased by his wife, Opie Munro’63, and is survived by one daughter and one son.
  • Robert H. Warren’63, U.S. Air Force veteran, retired programmer and systems analyst, avid sailor; Feb. 1, 2023, in Madison, Wis. He is survived by his wife, Sandy Holmes Warren’61, and two sons, including Jamie Warren’96.
  • Frank C. Meci’65, retired casino manager; May 24, 2022, in Reno, Nev. He is survived by his wife, Myrna Meci.
  • Robert B. Stewart’65, U.S. Army veteran, former president and chairman of Walter Stewart’s Market; April 2023, in New Canaan, Conn. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Gail Stewart, one daughter, one son, and brother, Richard C. Stewart’65.
  • Van K. Tharp’68, founder of the Van Tharp Institute, investment consultant; Feb. 24, 2022, in Cary, N.C. He is survived by his wife, Kalavathi Tharp, and one son.

  • Rebecca Wilkeson Probst’79, retired registered nurse; April 2023, in Tulsa, Okla. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, William H. “Josh” Probst’79, one daughter, and one son.

1990-1999

  • James R. Matel’93, mutual fund administrator; Dec. 6, 2022, in Brookfield, Wis. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Michelle Matel, one daughter, and one son.
  • Bonnie Jensen Juarez’96, former website designer; April 6, 2023, in Rockford, Ill. Survivors include her husband, Juan Juarez, and three daughters.
